About Alpine Device Repair
A small repair shop in Leavenworth, run by one person who lives here.
When something with a plug or a battery quits working, you should be able to call someone close by who will show up, explain plainly what's wrong, and fix it. No drive over the mountains, no two-week wait for a callback.
That's the whole idea here. Most of the work is electronics: a laptop that won't start, a TV with no picture, WiFi that dies in the back bedroom, a game console, a generator, an old stereo. The approach is the same on all of it. Find the part that's actually broken, repair that when it makes sense, and keep the rest of the thing in service.

Meet Loren
When you leave your equipment with Alpine Device Repair, you know exactly who is working on it. Loren lives in Leavenworth, and he has been fixing things for as long as he has been building software: broken laptop screens, pinball machines that won't boot, TVs, projectors, phones, stereos, small engines. That software career runs three decades, from engineer to leading engineering teams to running a software company, including time at Microsoft, where he was named as an inventor on two patents.
That combination covers both sides of a modern repair. Whether the problem is a failed component on a circuit board or a setting buried deep in a menu, the same person follows it from the first symptom to the final test.
Loren is insured, does the work himself, and has deep roots in the Wenatchee Valley.
Around town
Has taught computer science and cybersecurity classes as a volunteer for more than five years.
Has coached youth soccer in the valley.
On the founding team, and still runs the event's website.
Served as an EMT and spent five years with Chelan County Fire District 3.
How we work
Nothing fancy. The first visit has a fee: $95 for the first half hour of an in-person visit in the Wenatchee Valley corridor, or $50 for a drop-off. It covers the trip and the diagnosis. You know it up front, it's the same whether the fix turns out easy, hard, or not worth doing, and it counts toward the repair if you go ahead.
Once we know what's wrong, you get a clear price before that work starts, then photos and notes on what got done when it's finished. If it's not worth fixing, we'll say so and explain why. See finished jobs in the Repair Portfolio, and the numbers on the Pricing page.
Based in Leavenworth, and out to Peshastin, Dryden, Cashmere, Wenatchee, and East Wenatchee, plus Plain, Lake Wenatchee, Chelan, and Manson as outlying areas. Stereo and amp restoration comes in by mail from anywhere. Full detail on the Service Area page.

That conversation can usually tell you whether a repair is worth pursuing and which diagnostic fits. A firm repair price takes having the device in hand.
A $20 deposit applies to in-person visits only — it isn't a charge on every booking. It comes off what you owe for the visit and is refundable if you cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours ahead.
